Duravest generates value for its shareholders by developing its subsidiaries into appropriate acquisition targets or public offering entities.
The company strategy has three themes:
(1) Rapid commercialization of next-generation medical technologies by providing its portfolio of subsidiaries with financial, operational and scientific support,
(2) Prioritization of safety and
(3) Development of convergent medical technologies that span the traditional categories of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare IT and medical devices.
The future of healthcare lies in areas such as drug-device combos, nanotechnology and smart devices, which require a deep understanding of these interdisciplinary, convergent technologies. The company plans to acquire 3 - 5 companies along these lines, each with 2 - 4 year exit windows, implying 1 - 2 major deals per year.
